Transport4Schools - The New School Buses Hitting Hampstead

It seems Hampstead is going all green on us (as if it weren't already!)

Many of you may have seen the new buses driving through Hampstead early in the morning. Pupils from schools in Hampstead now have the opportunity to get a a school bus, in the style of many other countries, including America.

The service, called Transport4Schools is run by Marta Baschwitz and currently there are eight buses covering the areas around Hampstead. Of course, the aim of the project is to improve congestion on the roads and reduce pollution. It's also a way for busy parents to ease their work load.

The service isn't however run by the council, and therefore will cost money for anyone wishing to use it. And it's not cheap. Each child will cost around £200 a term. A lot, especially considering local buses are free for school children, and baring in mind that many families will have more than one child to worry about.

Yet, despite the costs, many parents have praised the service and it's still growing. Marta Baschwitz intends to push for the service to be used all around London.

So has anyone used the Transport4Schools service? What do you think? Is it worth while or should people just use public transport?
